Global Compact Network India is pleased to announce the 14th National Convention on the theme of “Sustainable Development Goals: Pioneering Solutions for India".
The theme of the convention puts emphasis on the real, on-ground actions that the businesses need to take to make a real impact on achieving the SDGs while also creating economic value for the nation.
The Convention represents collaboration and wide participation from the various sectors – Public, Private, Non-Profit and Government.
The prime focus is to showcase the respective ideologies, methodologies and most importantly, case studies depicting the wide implementation of sustainable innovations and leaderships that is taken up by the various companies and organizations in India.
The biggest barrier to sustainability is not consumer awareness or attitudes – there is overwhelming evidence demonstrating the public’s desire to address climate change through their daily behaviour and choices – it is the availability of alternatives that are sustainable, viable and affordable. This lack of alternatives is in part exacerbated by conventional, orthodox logic being applied to climate change.
There is a fair amount of evidence that the ‘Super Corporations’ of tomorrow will be those that have aligned their businesses to the unmet needs and aspirations of the societies and communities that they operate in, to create a sustainable world. GCNI’s 14th Convention aims to take stock of such actions that businesses across India have taken so far and would need to take, in order to create scalable and tangible benefits to the economy and the people of India.
Through the GCNI National Convention, we aim to bring together a highly evolved group of Industry professionals, Policy makers, Civil Society Organizations, Academia & UN aligned bodies to discuss and debate on identifying key social and environmental challenges within and outside their organization, designing innovative solutions to address them and becoming SDG pioneers.
