FACTSHALA, workshop cum training session on Fighting Against Misinformation, Through News and Information Literacy

Centre of Excellence for Governance, Ethics and Transparency (CEGET) at Global Compact Network India (GCNI) is dedicated to promoting transparency and ethical business practices, implementation of United Nations 10th Principles (Anti-Corruption) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as promoting Corporate, Urban and Environmental Governance in India. For over a decade CEGET-GCNI has not only been taking diverse initiatives for promoting transparency and integrity in businesses to eradicate corruption but also encouraging and guiding different stakeholders towards promoting responsible and transparent practices which lead to a strengthened collective action against corruption in India.

Standing committed to the fight against corruption through promoting transparency and accountability among the citizens as well as the key stakeholders from across the sectors, CEGET-GCNI, in collaboration with Internews, dataLeads and AGAM, is organizing FactShala Literacy Programme ( https://factshala.com/about-us/#) on 29th January 2021.

The aim of this programme is to educate professionals and others about media literacy and empower them to consume information critically. This training session will help in spreading the all important message of recognizing and shifting through misinformation and fake news from the daily dose of information that we consume online, offline and through our friends, family, and contacts.

The sessions will cover the following topics/issues

1. Information, news, and opinion: The information ecosystem, Facts versus opinion
2. Critical Thinking and understanding bias
3. Fact checking: Verifying fake photos and videos.
