Asia Pacific Climate Week (APCW) 2021 is accelerating collaboration and integrating climate action into global pandemic recovery. Building back opens an opportunity to address social inequalities and invest in economic development that is good for humanity and nature.The APCW 2021 Virtual Thematic Sessions take the pulse of climate action in the region, explore climate challenges and opportunities, and showcase ambitious solutions These sessions focus on priorities identified earlier in the year at the Virtual Regional Roundtables and the outcomes will be carried forward to the Ministerial Sessions later this year.

The APCW Virtual Thematic Sessions are scheduled from 6 to 9 July and will be hosted by the Government of Japan. The global organizing partners – UNEP, UNFCCC, UNDP, World Bank – are collaborating widely to deliver Thematic Sessions, facilitate Side Events and highlight videos in the Action Hub.

To accelerate the progress, the UN Global Compact is calling on corporate efforts to implement innovative solutions and contribute to sustainable development through Climate Ambition Accelerator programme, which equips businesses with the information and skills they need to set science-based emissions reduction objectives that are linked with the 1.5°C pathway, placing them on a road to net-zero emissions by 2050. Global Compact Network India in collaboration with Global Compact Network Malaysia are hosting the side event at APCW on the theme "Raising Climate Ambition: Accelerating progress towards Science Based Targets (SBTs)" for businesses to assess environmental risks and opportunities, set and deliver ambitious environmental targets and adopt responsible practices for a transition to the net- zero, resilient economy.
