In the last one year, there have been significant changes to CSR. Along with the amendments proposed to the Company's Act specifically for CSR, the report by the High-Level Committee on CSR has made some critical recommendations.
This years’ theme borrows inspiration from the recommendations drawn in the “Report of the High-Level Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility 2018”. These recommendations present us with an opportunity to explore the various models of collaboration that organizations can adopt to collectively achieve the shared growth that SDGs envisage. These include:
- Introducing impact assessment studies for CSR obligation of 5 crores or more, promoting social impact companies, and third-party assessment of major CSR projects.
Balancing local area preferences with national priorities
- Developing a CSR exchange portal to connect contributors, beneficiaries and agencies, allowing CSR in social benefit bonds.
Ours can be the first generation to succeed in ending poverty; just as we are the last to have a chance of saving the planet. The future of humanity and of our planet lies in our hands. We have mapped the road to sustainable development; it will be for all of us to ensure that the journey is irreversible.
